It is always a good idea to keep some home remedies for headaches that you know work for you, as we have all experienced a headache at some point in our lives. It is rare that someone has never had a headache and if that person exists, he or she sure is lucky. A headache is a pain that you usually feel all around the head or in certain locations. Common headaches are known as tension headaches and are caused by muscle contraction. You can blame these on stress, bills, arguments, anything really. Fortunately, there are many home remedies for headaches. With a headache comes a dull aching and sometimes a sense of tightness around the head. Some people even experience a feeling of not being clear-headed. Many people describe a headache as a band that is put around the head and wrapped tightly. Unfortunately, some people are just born with a certain biology that seems to make them much more prone to getting headaches. Many even experience migraines, which tend to be headaches that bring about nausea, dizziness, flashing lights and a numbing sensation in an arm or leg. If you have ever experienced a migraine, you know that it can be almost crippling. At times it can become very hard to think and especially hard to read and or even talk. Doctors do not know a specific cause of migraines, but there are many ways to reduce the number of migraines you have in a time period.

- Laugh and smile as much as you can during the day. As silly as it sounds, you are sure to be able to keep your mind off certain things that trigger stress.
- If you’re a hard working person who likes to get things done all the time, give yourself some time during the day to relax and take a few breaths.
- Aspirin does actually work, however make sure that you stick to the directions and only take two. By taking more you can cause damage to your body in other ways.
- Doing some exercises can actually make your headache go away as well. Of course this isn’t something you may feel up to doing if you have a severe headache.
- Another home remedy for headaches is to do facial exercises. Make faces, even though mom told you your face would get stuck, it won’t! Sit in front of the mirror and lift your eyebrows and squint your eyes. Opening your mouth and moving your jaw from left to right can also be effective.
- Getting the proper amount of sleep and even sleeping flat on your back have been proven to be a great home remedy for headaches. Get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. Do keep in mind however that too much sleep can also cause you to wake up with a headache. Also unless you are ill you should try to avoid taking naps, as they have been known to cause migraines.
Try a few simple home remedies for headaches. If they don’t improve, then it is best to visit your doctor, to ascertain if there is a specific cause for them.
